Simon Williamson

I am a DOP / Cinematographer who brings a passion for creating a connection between the screen and the viewer through my love of visual storytelling. I began my career in the creative industries as a music producer and DJ, releasing music on vinyl and CD, alongside DJ slots at across the world. During this time I learnt the importance of creating a bond between creatives and an audience, appreciating the need to shape a narrative experience. Important lessons that help shape my Cinematography.

I've recently finished up as a Cinematographer with the Sean Connery Talent Lab, as part of NFTS Scotland, overseen by Producer, Chris Young (Inbetweeners, Silent Roar). That film is premiering at the Edinburgh International Film festival in August 2025. I like to play with light, often finding myself taking light away and playing with the shadows. I enjoy a dynamic visual approach using a combination of creative and technical nouse.

Although I love to get into the details of a narrative script, you can still find me filming music videos, shorts and most things creative, I just love to be behind a camera.

I understand every project is different and comes with its own challenges, I'm always happy to sit down for a chat (often many!) over coffee to work out how we deliver the best visual for a project. I believe the best projects come from teamwork, collaboration, and communication.

I'm ready to meet any challenge, big or small, so let's chat. I enjoy managing a camera dept, gaffer and grip, and other departments to ensure we're all working from the same song sheet. I have a team I can pull together to fill the camera departments.

Whilst I'm happy to step into projects at short notice, I often find the earlier you get in touch, the more time we have to make sure we're delivering the type of visual your project deserves.
